Important things to note before you get started:
Place your Tirzepatide 60 pen in the fridge (2-8°C) from the day you receive it.
In the box you will receive one Tirzepatide 30 pen and 8 single use needles.
Refer to the package insert for detailed onhand information.
The Tirzepatide 30 pen can be selected in 2.5 mg, 5 mg and 7.5 mg
You should take one dose per week on the same day each week, this can be marked on the box to keep track.
Your practitioner will advise the dosage, but you typically start with 2.5 mg per week for 4 weeks and then increase it systematically to 5 mg for another 4 weeks. The Tirzepatide 30 pen is used for ongoing treatment at 2.5 mg, 5 mg or 7.5 mg. High dosages such as 10 mg and 15mg can be taken by taking two injections on the same day.
Getting started:
Wash your hands
Check the expiry date of your medication and check that you have the correct medication with the correct dose.
Remove the pen cap.
Place a pen needle on the own by first removing the paperflap,Pull the needle cover off, while holding the pen upright place the pen needle on the top end of the pen and screw it on.
Remove the outer needle cap and then the smaller needle cover. The needle is now exposed.
When you open your pen for the first time you need to prime the pen.
By holding the pen upright, tap the pen lightly for any air bubbles to raise to the top.
Turn the dial to the dash with two dots and push the plunger in.
You can repeat this process until you see a tiny drop of Tirzepatide liquid come out of the needle.
Next, you need to turn the dial to your selected dose.
In this case 2.5 mg is selected and is the predetermined amount that you will inject.
Using your Pen
There are several areas on the body where you can inject your Tirzepatide into.
The best places on your body to inject Tirzepatide are the front of your thighs, the front of your waist (abdomen) or your upper arms. Tirzepatide should be injected into the subcutaneous tissue. Please refer to the details packaing insert with image showing the different areas.
It is also important to rotate the injection site every week in order to prevent over use of one particular site.
Once you have selected your injection site, clean the area with an alcohol swab.
When you are ready for the injection make sure the selected dose is correct and the dosage selector on the pen shows your desired dosage ie. 2.5 mg
Place the pen in your hand with a fist-like grip, with your thumb ready to push the plunger in.
Inject the needle at a 90 degree angle to your skin. Use your thumb to push the plunger all the way down. Leave the needle in your skin for a steady count of 6 seconds, then remove the needle at a 90 degree angle.
Once you are done, check that you have delivered the full dose in the dosage window. Your pen plunger should be all the way in. Your dosage selector will now show a white line, as it was before you selected any dosage.
To remove the needle, place the large needle cap over the needle, screw it off and replace the pen cap.
Please dispose of your used needle safely in a “sharps box”.
Remember to store your Tirzepatide pen back in the fridge after use.
It is convenient to fill in the ‘Chosen day of the week’ schedule on your box and mark what day of the week you took your dosage. This can assist in making sure you take it on the same day each week.
